codes & conventions

After looking at the develpment of techinical codes in music videos over time, these are the codes and conventions we are sticking to in our music video

Codes and conventions of the rock music genre

-          Camera work

·         Constant close ups of members of the band and their instruments

·         Low angle shots capture the lead singers/character and allow them to dominate the screen

·         Mid shots are used to show detailed movements - the character running  

·         Long shots are used to capture an overall image of the narrative of the video.

-          Editing

·         Editing goes at the same speed as the song

·         Speed of the editing also matches the narrative of the song
