Have you been bullied???

This is the question we went around asking fellow students in 6th form to see the effect it had on them and how we could use this information to our advantage by portraying our protagonist with the same hurt and trauma as real life situations.

One of our scenes has a our protagonist coming home to the ironic 60's family house hold were his father is reading a news paper in the living room whilst his mother is on the fall sitting in front of his father, doing homework with his little sister. 

The news paper should have on the front and huge article on suicide of teens which is what we are trying to incorporate in our video as foreshadowing of a suicidal death. 

Another thing we are trying to establish is the ironic family oppose to our main character who seems to be out of place showing that no matter where he goes, he doesn't fit in; not at school or home. He's an outcast and we want the audience to clearly see this distinction.

Problems with finding Paper bags ....

As paper bag heads were the idea and focus of the main costume of the antagonist within our video it was up to me and Jahquani to find these props. As it was during our free periods we went to Tesco  2 post offices and Co Op but found none so we then decided to try making it our selves manually.

Whilst in the process of creating the paper bags we realized that the 'X X' for eyes that we were going to use  originally; would not allow access for actors to see so we adjusted it to suit our expectations and be able to give comfort with see for the actors.

Back to the drawing board i went to try and create a stylish unique look of a paper bag head without it seeming common to what normally is done by others and wound up with this....

It allowed the extras access to see and was big enough to cover their entire head

Initially we wanted to use these places to add to the mis en scene of our storyboard but due to issues arising when we did try to use them we changed it (study room and hall) such as the hall with the stage which was meant to be the breaking point of our protagonist. The setting was too big and we did not have enough extras to fill the hall or paper masks for up to 100’s of people.

Advantages:

·         Easily Assessable, we go to school every day so we have access to the hall and classrooms in the sixth form block.

·         Easy to access students as they are everywhere even the younger years.

·         Loads of space for actors and our group and the equipment.

Disadvantages:

·         Distraction from other students.

·         Asking for permission to use the hall or free classrooms; if they aren’t free we are set back as we have to wait.

·         Depending  on our free periods or where we are filming, we may not have access to a lot of people

Free Periods and Roles

The most sensible option would be to film on Monday as we all have 3 free periods. Our 4&5 lessons are Media so we may be able to film during this time too. This gives us the whole of Monday.

Thursday after lunch would be a good option as well, while Cameron doesn’t have any lessons Me Marios and Kemika can leave school at Lunchtime (12:20) to meet him to film.

The rest of the time will have to come out of our own times such as on weekends or after school.

This was our plans but since Marios departed from our group it’s now me, Jahquani and Cameron.

Jahquani	-Looking after the tripod -Input into the storyboard process -Helped with the questionnaires -Developed the guidance of theoretical work on blogs
Cameron	-Looking after the camera -Checking out features of the camera, making is charged etc.. -Editing the film recorded -Created and monitoring  YouTube page
Kemika (me)	-Creative inspiration towards digi pack construction and style, features etc.. -Drew storyboard and created paper bags -helped construct and create questionnaires - Put forwards some of the main ideas towards song and storyboard

This is Emmanuel our main character/protagonist. he will be involved is the majority of the scenes and is a fellow student at our 6th form.

 

This is Cameron our group editor and majority of the times camera man. He took charge of the construction of  the digipak and editing our music video

 

On the left you have me (Kemika) and on the right Jahquani also know as Quani. We share the rest of the roles in the group such as costume design, digipak designers, literal editors etc.
